About
My name is Hal Miller. I teach at BYU and have lived in Provo with my wife and children for the past 41 years. I'm running for Utah State House as a member of the United Utah Party to represent District 64, which takes in Southeast Provo and part of northern Springville (click to see if you live in this district).
I served on the Provo City Council from 2012-2016, where I worked hard to preserve what has made Provo so wonderful while working closely with the city administration to shepherd the city through through new growth and connectivity.
I'm running for State House in order to protect the future of District 64 as it matures and to assure intelligent development.
I'm doing more than asking for your vote, though. This campaign is about more than more than left and right calling each other names. My campaign is about whether we can still come together, whether collaboration is outmoded.
I assert that the parties not only can work together but must work together to get things done. That's how we did it on the Provo City Council. Collaboration is not always easy, but the results are always better than if one side or the other tries to force their perspective on everyone else.
I'm asking for your vote, but, in doing so, I am asking you to affirm that there is good reason for a representative who seeks first to listen, then to work tirelessly and without guile to provide smart, forward-looking, and in-this-together decisions. Is politics all about cable news shouting matches? Is it about "my party, right or wrong," or is it about working together to protect what we have as we move into the future?
I am Hal Miller, and I ask you to consider voting for me. Want to become a campaign volunteer? Click here to join our volunteer ranks. Click here to register to vote. And, if you're really interested, click here to donate.
